Based on the city fringe, less than 4 kilometres from the Adelaide CBD, the Council works closely with the community on wellbeing initiatives, events, arts, environmental sustainability, and the provision of quality services in response to local need. We are passionate leaders in many fields and this combined with a generous community and a long tradition of volunteering, positions the City of Unley to make a positive difference in people's lives.Recognised as an industry leader in coordinating and hosting a diverse range of quality Council and community events, the City of Unley is looking for an enthusiastic events professional to take on this exciting role on a full time basis for a two year contract.The roleThe role of Events Coordinator reports to the Team Leader Community and Cultural Development and is responsible for the coordination and delivery of an extensive program of Council and community events and activities across the City. This role works in collaboration with Council's Business and Economic Development Unit and Main Street Trader Associations to ensure that Council's program of events contributes to the vibrancy and prosperity of our main streets and local economy and encourages place activation and a vibrant and prosperous community. The position is being offered as a fixed term contract.About youTo succeed in this role you will have:A tertiary qualification in event management, tourism, community development, or other relevant disciplineSignificant experience (minimum 5+ years) in successfully developing, coordinating and implementing a diverse range of community development events, specifically major outdoor events.Experience in coordinating project teams and group processes, and liaising with a diverse range of community members and stakeholdersLeadership experience working with cross functional teams and external event organisersDemonstrated experience supervising staff and volunteersProven significant experience in conducting community and large events.A strong working knowledge of current legislation and best practice event management principles.The extras The role offers outstanding conditions of employment and benefits that are designed to attract and retain the best people.
