CITY OF UNLEYCadet Building Officer Conditions of RoleCasual role (0.4 - 0.6 FTE) working up to 22.8 hours across 2-3 days per week An hourly rate of $51.99.Negotiable hours to accommodate study obligations. About the RoleWe have an exciting opportunity to join our team of experienced building surveyors as a Cadet Building Officer.  The role is offered as an entry level opportunity for a person currently studying building surveying to transition into fulltime employment as a Building Officer. The role will enable you to apply your tertiary knowledge with support and guidance from experienced officers to develop practical skills and experience while undertaking the following key functions:·         Assisting with building consent applications and building compliance                    matters·         Undertaken concurrence checks for planning and building consents·         Assisting with building inspections and swimming pool inspections and                safety audits·         Processing mandatory notifications and scheduling building inspections ·         Processing mandatory documentation and ensuring related functions                    within the PlanSA portal are maintained and updated.·         Undertaking investigations of alleged breaches of the Local Nuisance and              Litter Control Act 2016 relating to Construction activities. ·         Providing development advice to the public.  About youTo succeed in this role, you will be a hardworking, focused, and committed individual who has:·         Recently completed or substantially completed relevant tertiary                             qualifications in Bachelor of Construction Management or Graduate                       Diploma in Building Surveying. ·         Basic understanding of the role of Local Government in customer service              and development service delivery.·         Basic understanding of knowledge of the Planning, Development and                    Infrastructure Act 2016.·         Familiarity with the National Construction Code Vol 2, Housing Provisions              and referenced Australian Standards.  More informationAll enquiries and applications will remain private and confidential.
