About us
The City of Unley is a vibrant and dynamic local council that provides a range of valued and diverse services to the surrounding community. Based on the city fringe, less than 4 kilometres from the Adelaide CBD, the Council engages with their community across local business initiatives, community events, arts, environmental sustainability, community services and volunteering programs.
The City of Unley is currently working with its community to develop a 2050 vision for the City, to be set out in a new Community Plan and City Plan. Economic development and the growth of the city is anticipated to be at the centre of this ambitious future.

About the role
The Business and Economic Development Advisory Committee (BEDAC) is comprised of up to six Independent Members and two Elected Members. The primary focus of the committee is to provide strategic advice on fostering growth and development within the City of Unley's economy and broader business environment. BEDAC will identify key issues and opportunities across the council area and position the City of Unley as a leader in business and economic growth and development.
In particular, the Committee will support the creation of Council’s Economic Development Growth Strategy 2026-2030, offering strategic insights and leveraging opportunities to enhance local economic outcomes. This includes driving growth in employment, attracting new businesses, supporting home-based enterprises, and cultivating new industries in the region. The strategy will provide important next steps towards the holistic vision for 2050.
