Based on the city fringe, less than 4 kilometres from the Adelaide CBD, the Council engages with their community across local business initiatives, community events, arts, environmental sustainability, community services and volunteering programs.We are passionate leaders in many fields and believe that what we do makes a positive difference to our community.The roleWe are inviting applications for the position of Finance Officer, on a full-time, or 0.8 part time, 3-year, fixed term contract basis.You will be responsible for the provision of financial and risk management activities by undertaking functions associated with the council rates, accounts receivable, accounts payable and risk management. You will support the Senior Coordinator Rates to produce and issue the annual rates notice, process valuation adjustments, and coordinate the collection of overdue rates. In addition, you will administer the accounts receivable function with the preparation of debtors invoices, assist the Principal Risk Management Officer with processing potential insurance claims and will provide back up for the accounts payable function.About youTo be successful in this role you will have:Relevant qualifications in Accounting or Bookkeeping and/or extensive experience relevant to the position.High level of computer literacy, spreadsheets, word processing etcDemonstrated knowledge and understanding of accounting principles including knowledge of the goods and services tax and how it applies to goods and services supplied by Council.Excellent customer service skills with the ability to resolve customer enquiries and convey information.Effective time management skills and the ability to work within the time constraints of financial cycles.Experience in the use of Microsoft Suite of Applications, 365 and internet technologies.Ability to build positive relationships and communicate effectively with all levels of staff and a broad variety of customers.Proficiency in the use of TechnologyOne and/or Pathway software applications will be highly regarded.What we offerAs a member of our team, you will benefit from:supportive, flexible environment with work / life balancecompetitive salary and conditionsongoing support for your development and further educationcomplimentary access to Journey Insurance and Income Protection Fundholistic health and wellbeing programsAll enquiries and applications will remain private and confidential.
